Chapretr 1- The Offer
My story begins during the 2nd phase of the immortal trials, everyone remembers it as the "Codex Stage" when people were still trying to understand the technology and extent of the implants that grant us immortality.
I am the only child of a high ranking politician in the federal government. Unfortunately my father did not take to kindly to my existence, always treating me like I was already a failure, he never allowed me to take the family name either. I was ranked 50/100 in Gallente/Caldari relations, 10/15 in local politics, 30/45 in Federal government. Needless to say my semi-failure in studies was a direct result of my resentment towards him. I was still focusing on my courses in the federal academy until one day when i was aporached by someone who looked to be in the Concord Assembly.
Strange figure: You there, your name please.
Me: My name is Doniken Noriek
Strange Figure: You wouldnt happen to be the same Doniken that has expressed resentment in that certain politician?
Me: I am, he is my father.
Strange Figure: Thats quite a shame to be frank.
Me: I know, now who are you and what do you want?
Strange Figure: Who I am is of no importance, but what I was is what they want, and what I want is to offer you a chance at a life outside politics, outside of the federation, outside of modern law. Into a life of complete and total freedom, but at the cost of eternity.
Me: Outside the federation? You mean outside any politicial laws and barbaric struggles for power?
Strange figure: Thats exactly what I mean. I will not ask for an answer, I will simply give you a location and time to be at for your journey to begin.
Me: *complete silence*
Strange Figure: Be at the Federal Navy docks by tomorrow at 5:00 P.M.
As I repeated the information the figure walked off and disappeared from my view, I went about my business, going from class to class completely distracted by what that guy said. Later that day when I arrived home I encountered my mother at the front door with a concerned look on her face as if shes warning me to leave already, and I had a feeling why. My father was standing in the balkony overlooking the entire capital city, when he heard me enter he turned around and signalled me to sit on the couch in front of the monitor.
Father: Well, Doniken, your shortcommings are a regular thing now, theyv always been, I have never expected much from you as you are not a clone of myself, however I never instilled it in you that it is ok to not even pay attention in your classes.
Just then, the moniter turned on and showed an image of my main instructor, a close friend of my father who like him, is very strict and unforgiving.
Father: Please, explain to him what you just told me.
Instructor: Gladly, today we have noticed that you, Doniken, have shown little to no interest or even a slight focus on your studies today, as if your distracted by something. Whatever the case is, due to your scores, this was the only and final offense that we will tolerate from you, you will be sent to the higher up classes tomorrow, and to ensure that you do not slip up, we will arrive at your home tomorrow morning at 5:00 A.M. you are to go with the men at the door and arrive here immediately after. Is that understood?
Father: Yes, undoubtedly understood.
Instructor: Now, Doniken, is that understood?
Me: *with some anger in my eyes but a calm voice* Yes sir.
With that the monitor shuts off and I head to my room, I look back and my mother shows signs of panic towards my father but he ignored her and signaled me to continue to my room. The rest of that day was a blur, the only thing I remember was looking on my map of the planet looking for the location he gave me, after 30 minutes I finally found it. Unfortunately the distance I had to travel was something I didnt expect, its good that I didnt have to be there in the morning as it would take me all day to reach it on my own. I slept soundly that night, I made my way to the front door that the men would arrive at, I went with them to the academy, I noticed that they had people watching me the whole time, it was quite difficult for me to get somewhere private, once I was alone I quickly found an exit and left the academy. I got several rides alone the way, but eventually I arrived at the dock an hour early, when I arrived I saw at least 10 others, the same age as me, all confused as to what to do next.
Strange Figure: Welcome all of you to your new lives, please enter my ship and we can depart.
As I walked into the Talos I looked back onto the city, I thought of my mother for an instant, thinking "Goodbye" before I made my last steps onto the ship. As we lifted off I watched as the city got more distant over a few minutes, before it was merely a spec in the entire planet.
Me: This is it, goodbye Gallente, hello New Eden.
